Used Portable Generators

Looking for some used portable generators?  If you need a generator, it can cost you quite a bit of money.  I mean, if you’re trying to run a fridge or air conditioner, you’re going to need at least 3.5k watts for the fridge and 5k or so watts for the air conditioning unit, and generators that provide that kind of power often times cost at the lowest $700 but more likely between $1,000 and $2,000.

It’s for this reason that many people are looking into buying used portable generators so that they can get what they need at a discount.  It’s important to have a generator if you live in an area that is prone to tornados and hurricanes as you never know when one will hit and you never know how long you may be without power.  Sometimes you can go weeks without power, if that ever happens, any food you have in the fridge will go bad and your life will be made a living hell if you don’t have any contingencies in place.

Of course that is not the only reason to use these generators, you might enjoy using them when you go out camping, or perhaps you need one setup for industrial use.  Regardless, if you’re looking for used portable generators, here’s what you’re going to have to do:

1.  Check EBay

EBay is one of the biggest online destinations for used equipment.  There are many people selling their used goods on there, most of the time at significant discounts because they have been used, although at times you do find new items there too at discounts.

When you’re making a purchase on EBay though, do make sure to check the seller’s rating and feedback, you want a seller who has sold many other items before this and has a good history of ratings.  This is information you can find out by clicking on their profile which is usually a star with a number under it denoting the transactions they’ve undertaken.

Once you find some used portable generators you like, you can either bid on them and hope you win, or use the “buy it now” button to snatch it up immediately.  If you use the “buy it now” feature though, chances are you’ll end up paying slightly more money.

2. Craigslist

Another great place to find used portable generators is by checking out Craigslist in your area.  This is a well known spot online to find used goods, but be careful, it’s not regulated like EBay is so it is much less formal.  You will need to call the person selling the item and likely meet up to make the purchase.
