Generator
Looking for a small portable
generator? If you need a small portable generator,
chances are it’s because you are looking to transport it
around for say camping purposes, or for taking it to a
construction site or other such industrial site. For
such situations, you want something which will fit in a car
and be easy to roll out when it is needed.
Now, when it comes to which small portable
generator to get, there are many to choose from, with many
different brand names, here are a few for you to consider if
you don’t know where to start:
1. ETQ TG1200 1,200 Watt 2HP
2-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator
Stats:
• 1000 running watts/1200 max
watts
• ETQ 2 stroke air cooled OHV engine
• 1 gallon fuel tank provides 5.5 hours of run time at 50%
load
• Less than 65 db
• Non-CARB Compliant/Not For Sale In California
Now this is only going to cost you about
$140 as it is a really low end generator, you can’t expect
to power your whole house with this as you would a unit
which costs $2,000 or so, but this will still have its
uses.
This generator has a low noise level and
is easily started with 1 stroke. With only 1,200 max
watts, this will be able to handle small appliances, however
if you’re looking to use it for a fridge, you’re looking at
at least 3,200 watts, and for air conditioning, you’ll need
upwards of 5,000 watts.
But if price is an issue for you and you
only want to run a bare minimum of appliances, this will do
the trick.
2. Generac 5622 GP Series GP
5000 6,250 Watt 389cc OHV Portable Gas Powered
Generator
Another small portable generator to
consider picking up, here are the stats:
• Steel fuel tank with incorporated
fuel gauge
• Locking fold-down handles and wheel kit
• Hour meter with maintenance resets
• 6,250 Surge Watts/5,000 Rated Watts
• Non-CARB Compliant/Not For Sale In California
This small portable generator comes with a
steel tube cradle, locking fold-down handles to carry it
with, as well as a wheel kit to drag it around on.
This one unlike the previous will give you enough watts to
run your fridge or run your air conditioning on, so you may
want to consider this unit instead if you need greater
energy usage.
This will cost you more money of course,
it comes in at around $650 which is quite a bit more than
the previous one, but this does the job well and is not too
heavy or bulky.
In the end, when looking for a small
portable generator, make sure you find out what kind of
power you need to support your appliances and then find a
generator which can supply well over that amount just in
case.
